Every year ADT provides Iftar and family food parcel to the poor and female headed HHs to enable them observe their Ramadan obligations without concerns in Somalia, Djibouti and Kenya.
We make sure the poorest people receive your Iftar and family food parcels. The family Food Parcel will be given to those who live in IDP camps and those who have lost livelihood to drought only. Hot Iftar meal will be given to those who do not have what to break Iftar throughout the Ramadan.
The drought is expanding affecting all the regions in the country.According to UN OCHA 5.4 million in the country is in need of humanitarian assistance in 2018. Some of 1.2 million children are expected to fall into malnutrition and children are in need of urgent nutrition support, including life-saving treatment.
The drought in Djibouti persisted for nine consecutive years, severely eroding household coping mechanisms. The drought affected 244,920 people who are in need of emergency assistance.
The situation for children is especially bad in Yemeni refuigees. Malnutrition continues to threaten the lives of Children in the camps. The severe acute malnutrition (SAM) in remains high Refugees in Holl Holl and Markazi camps 4.2 and 4 percent respectively.
In Kenya, drought conditions that are expected to persist into 2018. According to UNICEF 3.4 million people severely food insecure and an estimated 500,000 people without access to water. An estimated 482,882 children require treatment for acute malnutrition, including 104,614 who are suffering from severe acute malnutrition (SAM) and 88% of theses children are in the 23 Semi-arid counties in the country.
